I started programming my freshman year of high school creating simple batch scripts. What started as simple choose your own adventure games quickly became more in-depth mini-games and eventually started learning the basics of C++. After high school I enrolled at the University of Wisconsin Madison following a path in computer engineering.
I quickly found that engineering was not the right path and wanted to focus on software. I had to work in a variety of languages and technologies ranging from assembly to the javascript. The switch away from engineering allowed me to explore courses outside the rigid logic of computers. I quickly fell in love with the film courses offered and started a double major within the College of Letters and Sciences. I was constantly pushed and pulled from rigid structure to loose abstractions. Half my days would be working on software while the other was analyzing movies.
After my studies I found myself in the world of web development in the marketing industry. I was thrown into the deep end of web administration and quickly found myself comfortable navigating LEMP and LAMP based stacks. Currently I'm developing custom WordPress themes and plugins. I have been shifting my focus towards headless architectures. Leveraging the speed of react frameworks like Next.js to deliver CMS managed content.
